"I guess he figured we were the most capable to bring down a threat like this Animus person," her sister Elizabeth said.
Elizabeth and Jennifer Rourke were the DEO agents codenamed Prysm and Strange Visitor respectively.
"The west coast director gives me the creeps," Jennifer said.
"I know, I studied him a little bit. He's half-human, half-bird creature. His name is Norda Cantrell. He used to go by the name Northwind before Shelley recruited him into the DEO. And from what I gathered he has ties to the old hero Hawkman."
"You've been doing your homework, what did you find out about Anima?"
"She can summon this big pink creature called Animus, she can throw energy bolts, she apparently can suck away your life force, and somehow she can make this pink armor stuff appear all over her body."
"Anything else?"
"Well her name is Courtney Mason, and our scans show that she is half-human, half unidentified alien species."
"Oh great," Jennifer moaned. "We get sent as specialists on an life sucker?"
"We should be safe as long as we stay in energy form around her," Elizabeth said.
"They have much nicer quarters here than they do on the east coast branch."
"They have a lot less meta agents on this coast."
Over the intercom system a voice was heard. "Prysm, Strange Visitor, please report to Director Cantrell's office."
"Oh great," the two sisters said almost in unison.
"Director Shelley gave the two of you a glowing recommendation when he sent you here. Our agents have tried time and again to bring down Anima. She always seems to vanish though. That is where the two of you come in."
"So what are your plans once you catch her?" Elizabeth asked.
"Well, we plan to take her into custody and try to reform her until she may become a DEO agent. And if that is not possible we will keep her imprisoned so she does not hurt anyone."
"What about her life sucking abilities?" Jennifer asked. "How do you plan to protect us from that?"
"We believe as long as you stay in your energy forms you should be safe."
"How are we supposed to track her down?" Elizabeth asked.
"She leaves a very strong energy signature. The plan is to use this signature to track her and have you two bring her in."
"That doesn't sound too bad," Jennifer said.
"Great, you two are dismissed until we call upon your."
Jennifer and Elizabeth Rourke left the office. Director Cantrell was opened a drawer on his desk and pulled out a small device. The small device had a monitor that was covered with the entire meta information on both Rourke sisters.
"This mission is a success already," he said to himself.
"You guys really don't want to mess with me," she said.
"Honey, we plan on doing more than messing with you," one of the men said as the other released the blade on his knife.
"I'm giving you one last warning."
They approached both of them laughing at her. One of them started unbuttoning his dirty and faded jeans.
"Animus come forth," Courtney said as a large pink energy creature appeared.
"What do you need boss?" Animus asked.
"Take care of these two."
"Umm, listen lady, we didn't mean nothing. We were just leaving," the two men started back pedaling.
"Sorry fellows, you heard the lady," Animus said as he grabbed both of them. He picked them up by their heads and sucked the life force out of both of them leaving them both aged husks of human beings.
Courtney stood up. "Thank you, Animus. That will be all."
Animus vanished and Courtney walked out of the alley.
"Sir, we have an energy signature on the Anima case," the young man said.
"Thank you Mister Carr. Contact Strange Visitor and Prysm. Send them out to capture her."
"Yes sir."
Lucas Carr left the office.
"Well sis, I guess they found her," Jennifer said.
"Let's go."
The two sisters went to the Director's office. Cantrell was sitting with a device on his desk. He was waiting for them.
"This will pinpoint her exact location for the two of you. With any luck you can catch her and be back at your regular base tomorrow. You have been given your orders. Remember, stay in energy form and you should be fine. Go forth agents."
"Yes sir," they both said as they turned to their energy forms.
"Man I wish I was a meta," he said to himself.
"I feel sorry for her really, Elizabeth," Prysm said.
"My name is Strange Visitor when we're in costume, sis."
"Sorry. Do you remember how scared you were when your powers kicked in? I bet she's terrified. I'm sure she's not a bad girl."
"I am sure that she will surrender and be a great addition to the DEO then."
"Miss Mason?" the man asked her.
"Let me guess. You're planning on raping me and killing me," she said.
"My name is Gog."
"Well Gog, you have lousy fashion sense."
Gog walked closer to her. "Miss Mason, my fashion sense is not the point here. I do have a reason that I appeared to you. And it is not to rape or kill you."
"Well don't take another step forward until you tell me what the reason is."
Gog walked closer towards her.
"I swear they always make me do this. Animus come forth."
The big pink creature appeared again.
"What is it this time boss?" Animus said.
"The fashion victim," she said pointing towards Gog.
Animus flew over to Gog picking him up in one hand. Animus was attempting to drain the life force when it got a massive shock that caused it to drop Gog to the ground and fly back over to Courtney.
"Now, Miss Mason shall we talk. We are quickly running out of time," Gog said.
"I think you should listen to him," Animus said.
"Talk then, and make it quick," she said as Animus vanished.
"You are a very powerful metahuman. With that power it is most likely that there are DEO agents on the way to take you into custody right now. I am giving you another option though."
"Let me guess. You're going to save me."
"Yeah, something like that."
"Do I get my own bedroom in this place you're taking me?"
"As big a room as you could ever want."
"Cool, sounds good to me," Courtney said.
"You're coming with me that easily?"
"I had nothing better planned."
Prysm and Strange Visitor flew over them coming down to a landing.
"There they are," Prysm said.
"Let's get them," Strange Visitor said.
They swooped down hovering in front of them on the street.
"This is the DEO. Surrender now and come with us," Strange Visitor said.
"Door," Gog said.
A large yellow glowing door appeared.
"Let's go, Courtney," Gog said.
Courtney and Gog walked through the door. Both of them vanished as the yellow door vanished behind them.
"Where did they go?" Elizabeth asked.
"The tracker says they're gone."
"I guess we go tell Director Cantrell."
"Yes sir, they just vanished," Elizabeth Rourke said.
"They?" he asked
"Yes. Mason and some man in golden armor and a golden Viking helmet."
"Well, you two did the best you could. Give me the tracker and you can return back to your regular base."
Jennifer handed him the tracker.
"You are both dismissed," he said.
"Yes sir," they both said as they turned and walked out the door.
Cantrell checked the tracker. "Only a partial signature. Oh well. There is still enough here. The plan is all coming together so easily. I wonder what Tyler can do with the new data."
