The young man nodded and walked toward the window.
"Hello King."
" . . . "
"No, I have not seen Prince Brion. Not since he was knocked unconscious by Shakedown."
" . . . "
"I understand that you feel he may be in danger, but I have not seen him. If I do, you'll be the first person I contact."
" . . . "
"Yes, I know things happened fast after we broke through those doors . . . " Tony said as he remembered that evening in Markovia . . .
Tony left the King with his eldest son Prince Gregor, and told him to get the King to Dr. Jace.
The younger Prince, Brion, had been rendered unconscious by Shakedown as soon as the Masters of Disaster had broken through the window.
Tony ran down the hallway to his room. He just knew that he should have had his briefcase with him, but he had hoped that it would just be a dinner and small business meeting.
He hit the door running and was into the Iron Man armor and out his balcony window within seconds.
Brion looked around for his brother and Mr. Stark. No sign of either of them and Brion concluded that they must have been taken hostage by the Masters of Disaster.
Brion tore his royal coat off and jumped out of the second story window and flew off in the direction that he saw a flying someone headed.
There was something nagging at Tony's mind though.
It finally hit him. Shakedown knew who to hit, literally, as soon as they entered the room. Yet, Dr. Jace had told him that Prince Brion had only undergone the process weeks ago, and that nobody outside the family and a few of the security staff had any knowledge of this. That's when the other thing fell into place for Tony. The guards. There were no guards when he raced through the Palace to his room. What was happening here?
Tony's thoughts were interrupted by a beeping in his helmet. There was something closing in behind him . . . or someone. Had one of the Masters of Disaster gotten behind him?
The rain was pouring as Tony turned the armor to see who was behind him. He still had the five figures on tracking in front of him, and he had an idea who that left.
Prince Brion approached behind him and he was not a happy looking individual.
"Iron Man! Where are the murderers? Where are the others?"
Tony was glad his helmet hid his shock. "Follow me and tell me what's happened," Tony asked.
Iron Man turned to lead the young Prince in pursuit of the Masters.
Brion followed and spoke. "I awoke to find Mr. Stark and my brother gone. I saw my father lying in a heap with his neck snapped like a twig."
Iron Man looked back at the young man. He could tell that if not for the rain, the boy would still have streaks of wetness on his face. "I know that Mr. Stark is fine. He summoned me after everything happened. He left your brother with the King. He also said that Coldsnap and Heatwave seemed very agitated. Like they were expecting someone else to be there."
"Someone else?"
"Dr. Jace most likely. They are looking for cures for their conditions, and she would be a person that they would think could help them."
"Is she in danger?"
"Not at this point. This group seems too unstable to do any one thing that lasts too long. There was a lot of arguing going on as they left. Which may work to our advantage."
"Alright. I want to help. I have to avenge my father."
"I know you do. What else can you do besides fly and look physically bigger than anyone I've seen in a while?"
"I can increase or decrease gravity with a thought. I can generate a sort of lava blast. I also draw invulnerability and strength from Mother Earth."
"That should all come in handy. How old are you."
"Twenty-one."
"Good. I have to tell you something in a minute. But we'll overtake the Masters if we don't land here. They've stopped to regroup right over the rise."
Iron Man and Prince Brion landed.
Brion looked at Iron Man. "What do you need to tell me?"
Iron Man looked at the young man. Tony felt a sense of regret, but if what he thought was true, he had to tell him.
"My boss, Mr. Stark, left your brother with the King to summon me, and both were still alive when he did."
"No . . . "
"I've also intercepted transmissions from the Palace to the Masters within the last few moments. That's why they stopped. They're waiting for us."
"But . . . "
"I'm sorry Brion, your brother is Bedlam."
Tony could see the hurt and anger flowing through the Prince. He could feel the earth starting to tremble beneath their feet.
"You have to do this . . . " he said grabbing the young man by the shoulders, "go back to the palace and get Dr. Jace out of the Palace. Get to the airport and meet Mr. Stark there. He'll take you out of here until we can figure things out."
Brion stared at Iron Man. "It makes sense. In a sick twisted way, it makes sense. He always hated industry, and loved working with the earth, but it never seemed that . . . I mean, he . . . HOW COULD HE DO THIS!?!?!?!"
A geyser of lava erupted from behind Brion.
New Wave was pacing in front of the others. "The Baron said that Iron Man was on his way, and that Prince Brion was missing from the Palace as well. We have to be ready for them."
"I don't like this," Windfall said under her breath. "We shouldn't have hurt the King."
"Shut up you sniveling little piece of . . . "
"Leave her alone," Shakedown said getting in between New Wave and Windfall.
"And where was this doctor that the Baron told us would be there?" Heatwave demanded moving towards them.
"We should just leave," Windfall said.
"We're not leaving without Dr. Jace!" Heatstroke snapped as the rain hissed on her body as it hit her.
"All of you shut up!" New Wave yelled. "Listen."
In the distance they heard a scream and then saw a geyser of lava shooting into the sky from just over the hill in front of them.
"C'mon, let's go finish them," New Wave said as she started towards the hill. "Let's try to do something right this time? Kill them both."
"Prince Brion. Calm yourself. Go back and get the doctor . . . get to the plane and wait for Mr. Stark. You both have to get out of here. Now go."
Brion took off and pushed the geyser of lava that was in the air towards the approaching Masters of Disaster causing them to scatter as they came over the hill.
Iron Man also took off and blasted at both Heatwave and Coldsnap, knocking them both to the ground.
Windfall and Shakedown chased after Brion. Windfall using her powers to keep Shakedown aloft.
"You killed the King," Iron Man announced over his loudspeakers, "you will face the penalties."
New Wave was using the rainstorm to her advantage by riding the rain and seemingly flying. She way also getting larger.
Iron Man fired his repulsers at where New Wave was and she fell to the ground.
"Masters scatter," she cried.
Iron Man looked toward the Palace and saw Shakedown running off in a different direction, and Windfall kneeling on the ground with her face in her hands.
The Palace guards were out in full force, and didn't seem too happy to see him.
"Halt in the name of King Gregor," came a voice over the Palace speakers.
"It's Prince Brion."
"Let him land."
Brion landed and went to his brother. "They killed father and Iron Man has them on the run," he said as he embraced the new King.
"I know Brion. Thank the gods you're safe."
They separated and Brion kneeled. "May I see Dr. Jace?"
"Certainly brother. She is safe within the Palace."
He motioned for some guards to approach. "Take my brother to Dr. Jace. Thank you."
Tony Stark was going to be on the plane waiting for Prince Brion and Dr. Jace.
"Where is Dr. Jace?"
"You'll find out, traitor."
Brion swung around and leveled the guards with a wave of his hand.
He ran through the hallways towards the old castle dungeon area. He could hear sirens starting to wail throughout the Palace. His brother had snapped. He had to of.
He finally came to where there were more guards. They never stood a chance against the powers that Brion possessed.
He took Dr. Jace from her cell and left the castle the quickest way he could think . . . through the outer wall of the doctors' cell.
". . ."
"I understand. Thank you, King Gregor."
Tony hung up the phone and smiled at Prince Brion. "You're a most wanted fellow in Markovia right now, and I don't think your brother has your best interests at heart."
"I know he doesn't. Wendy told me of the plans that they had gotten from him. They would have eventually destroyed most, if not all of the industry there. As it stands right now, Gregor has to be careful what he does, or has done. Too much to soon will cause to much attention to be drawn to him."
"Wendy Jones?"
"Yes. Iron Man had told her that there was protection if she wanted it. Since she legally didn't do anything over assault during her time in Markovia. She's working with your government right now to help identify several terroristic meta humans that they are after."
"Very good. Full pardon for her activities?"
"That's what they say."
"That's good news. What about Dr. Jace?"
"Currently in places unknown. I dropped her off somewhere after we landed here in California. She has since gone incognito. she won't even tell me where she is."
"I can understand that. What are your plans, now that you're in the states?"
"Well, with a little help from you, 'Brian Jeffries' will be starting at college in a few months."
"Be glad to help out," Tony said, "any particular area of study?"
"A bit more on earth science and some law."
"Law?"
"Yeah, it ties in with another favor I have to ask you. It involves a suit that can help focus my abilities."
"Are you sure that's wise?"
"I am sure. I cannot go home yet, and my brother cannot do anything against me here. In my fathers name I will use my powers to help those that cannot stand against the likes of the Masters of Disaster."
"Very well. I'm sure I can help. Right after we talk about the Florida headquarters, and what can be done to prevent against the flooding that happened."
