Vance Astro raised his TK shield. With the force of his will he softened it. The robot lifted its weapons and fired. Six bullets came at Astro and stopped a few inches from his body. The bullets floated trapped in his TK shield.

"Good job, Vance!" Captain America praised.

"Now we've got a problem," Vance complained.

"What's wrong?"

"What do I do with the bullets? They haven't lost their momentum. They're only suspended. When I release them they're going to have to go somewhere and right now they're still pointed at me," Vance explained.

"Can you change their direction?"

"Maybe one at a time but if I try to move one I might lose control of the other five."

"And while you're deciding what to with the bullets, the bad guys get away again," Cap replied. "Computer end sequence! Can you move yourself out of their path without losing control?"

Vance nodded and moved from the bullets path.

"Now try to redirect them."

Vance watched the bullets and chose the lowest one. Carefully he pointed its momentum to the ground. One at a time he moved each bullet and when he was sure each one was ready he released them and they fell to the ground.

"Your control over smaller objects is getting better but you still need to work on your speed," Cap commented. "Computer restart Sequence Astro. Don't think of the bullets as six individual objects. Treat them as if they were parts of a larger whole."

Vance took a deep breath and prepared for the robot's attack. He softened his TK shield once more. The bullets came flying in and they stopped this time two feet from his body. He smiled as he hardened the TK shield and pushed downward. His TK shield flipped from his body and surrounded the bullets. He flattened the shield and forced them to the ground.

Cap threw his shield at Vance. Vance saw it coming and deflected it with the full force TK shield. It bounced off the wall and Cap leapt and caught it. He tossed it again over Vance's head. It hit the wall behind him and came back. Vance softened his shield and caught it.

Six more bullets came flying from the robot's weapons and Vance caught them as well he moved Cap's shield and pushed the bullets from harm's way with it. Then he used the shield as a projectile and disabled the robot.

"Computer end sequence," Cap commanded. "Well done, Vance! You're improving. That was quick thinking using my shield to dispose of the bullets."

"It also allowed me to keep my shield up. I lost my shield for a second with the first set. I almost didn't get it up in time to block yours."

"That's enough for today. Hit the showers and then we'll view the tape."

Connor Hawke gazed out of the corner office window. It was a lovely Manhattan view. It really didn't impress him much.

"Really Connor, I wish you would have called first," his mother stated.

"We don't have phones at the monastery, Mom."

"What about the cellphone I bought you last Christmas?"

"Mom, the monks won't let power lines come up the mountain. I'm sure they're going to allow a cell tower."

"Why didn't you call me from the plane?"

"They have phones on planes?"

She smiled at him in her motherly way and shook her head. "I'm just really busy right now. We've got the EPA breathing down our necks. All because some nutball in Jersey tried to bomb our facility. We're still getting threats from his organization."

"Is there anything I can do?"

"No dear, you'd best leave the business up to your mother."

Vance Astro sat at the table nervously. The tape session hadn't taken long today which he had taken as a good sign. He was about to leave when Cap had asked to remain in the conference room.

Cap entered and placed a box in front of him. "You look nervous."

"A little," Vance breathed.

"Don't be," Cap smiled. "Open it."

Vance lifted the box lid to reveal his new costume. It was similar to Captain America's only it was a dark navy blue. It didn't have the stripes around the midsection or the wings on the mask but the white star on the chest was still recognizable.

"Your new code name is Justice." Cap stated. "Officially, the Avengers League Charter won't allow mutants. Unofficially, I think that's a mistake. Hopefully someday we'll get past that. If you have any problems there's a communication device in the mask it will allow you to contact me."

"Thanks Cap!" Vance beamed. "This is great."

"You've earned it. Just be careful out there."

Vance floated down the street. He didn't even realize that he was walking two inches above the ground. The costume had a slight shimmer in the sunlight and he wore it proudly. He didn't even notice the black limousine following him.

He was oblivious to the world around him. A pair of gunshots brought him back to reality. The bank across the street was being robbed by the same set of thieves. This was his chance to redeem himself.

He levitated over the street and lifted the hood of the getaway car. He pulled the distributor cap with his telekinesis and prepared himself for the three robbers. They fired their pistols and Vance caught the bullets with his TK shield. He flipped the shield like he had in practice. When he did he felt a pinprick on the back of his neck. Helplessly he fell from his levitated state.

The black limousine pulled up behind him and the chauffeur stepped out and loaded him into the back. He caught a glimpse of a large bowtie before he lost consciousness.

Connor heard the slight sound of gunfire before his mother. It was a few floors below them but Connor was certain automatic weapons were being used. The sound grew closer and soon people screaming was added to the mix.

"What now!" she declared opening the office door. She quickly closed it. "Oh my God! They're here. The nutballs are here." She panicked.

"Stay calm, Mom. I'm going to check it out."

Connor carefully cracked the door and peered into the outer offices. Three men with assault rifles were visible and all of the office workers were lying face down on the ground. One of them noticed him and made his way toward the office. Connor stepped back and searched the office. He motioned for his mother to get down and he hit the lights. He grabbed one of the stone paperweights from his mother's desk and positioned himself in the corner.

The terrorist opened the door and stepped in searching for the light switch. Connor threw the paperweight and caught him in the temple. The man fell. Connor rolled and grabbed the paperweight and tossed it into the outer offices toward the location of the second gunner. He cracked him in the nose and blood gushed from his face as he also dropped.

The third gunner watched in confusion as his partner fell. Connor attacked while his attention was in that direction. He ran across several desks and struck him with a flying kick. That's when Connor realized there was a fourth.

Automatic weapon fire covered the air above him as Connor fell behind the desks. He slowly began crawling toward the second terrorist. He made his way and found the paperweight he started to throw it and noticed one of the office employees had a baseball on his desk. He grabbed it and tossed it back toward the second gunner. The final one fired in that direction and Connor dropped him with the paperweight.

With great haste he checked each one to make sure they were out of commission. They were all out and were still breathing.

"Is everyone all right?" he called.

Several of the office workers moved and realized the ordeal was over. Slowly they began rising from the office floor obviously shaken.

"You're just like your father," Connor's mother complained.

"You know, Mom, I've been meaning to talk to you about that."

Steve Rogers leaned back in the recliner. It wasn't often he spent in time in his apartment but this afternoon he getting to enjoy some actual downtime. Absentmindedly, he grabbed the remote and began flipping through the channels. He was about to dose off when a message came across his Avengers League badge.

"Captain America here!" he said.

"Hey Cap," Iron Man replied. "We have an incoming message on the new frequency you asked for."

"Patch it through," he responded. "How can I help you, Vance?"

"I'm in trouble, Cap," Vance Astro answered. "I was set up by someone. It was like he knew exactly what I was going to do."

"What's your situation right now?"

"I'm standing on a column, about three hundred feet tall, in the center of a pit. There's a set of suspended bridges surrounding the column and I could probably jump to reach them but they don't look safe."

"Why don't you just levitate?"

"I can't. I'm wearing a collar. It must be some type of inhibitor because my telekinesis is gone."

"Excuse me, sir," Mr. Chambers spoke.

"What is it, Chambers?" Arcade growled.

"It appears our young friend has a communication device."

"What?!?" Arcade roared. "Well block it. Then turn up the heat."

"Okay! Just sit tight," Cap replied. "I'm going to try to get a lock on your position and I'll be there as quick as I can."

"I'll try," Vance answered. "Doesn't look like I have a choice. Wait a minute! What is that? Oh no, I'm in . . ."

"Vance, what's going on?" Cap screamed. "I've lost him."

Steve change the frequency on his communicator. "Iron Man?"

"How can I help Cap?"

"By any chance did you trace the location of my last call?"

"Of course I did, let me send you the coordinates."

"Thanks, Tony. I knew I could count on you."

"Are you going to need assistance?"

"Not yet," Cap finished. "I'll be sure to let you know if I do. Cap out!"

"Oh no. I'm in trouble now," Vance called. "Cap, it looks like you can add a flame thrower to my situation. Cap? Cap? Ah great!"

Flames shot around the base of the column. Vance realized the sides were covered in a flammable substance when the flames began rushing up the column. Having no choice left, he leapt for the nearest suspension bridge. The cables holding the bridge on the right side instantly snapped from his weight. He was able to grab one of the boards from the bridge and prevent the plummet to his death. The fire from the column lit up the pit revealing hundreds of gleaming metal spikes at the bottom of the pit.

Vance swung for a minute. Then he realized his swinging was building momentum and he was about to reach the side of the pit, which was covered in spikes also. He pulled himself up to the next board and began to reach for the cable at the last minute he realized the cable was actually razor wire.

"How did I get into this?" he complained.

The momentum was still building and he was getting closer to the spikes. He looked up and saw the cable and board he was hanging from was attached to a pendulum and not only was its momentum growing but it was also dropping an inch with every swing. In desperation he began making it swing faster. He got his foot on the lower board and mad a flying leap for the next suspension bridge. One set of its cables also snapped.

Vance examined the set of cables that snapped and saw that they were not razor wire as the upper set were. He positioned himself on the boards as the pendulum of this bridge began doing its thing. He pulled the cable and fashioned into a slipknot. He hoped the cable would slip enough to allow it to tighten.

As he began to approach the pit wall he slipped the cable onto one of the spikes and pulled. It tightened. He slowly wrapped the other end of the cable around the bridge and pulled himself to the wall. Then he began climbing out of the pit using the spikes. He reached the edge of the pit and found himself in total darkness as the fire on the column died down.

Vance reached into the pit and grabbed one of the spikes. He began to push and pull it in a backwards and forward motion. Eventually he was able to free the spike from the cement wall. He lifted it and pushed it between the collar and his neck. He tried to twist it to free himself from the collar but only managed to cut off his wind supply.

He stood up and began to make his way along. At least with the spike he had a makeshift weapon. He took to steps and slipped. He fell on his back hard driving the air from his lungs. He breathed in slow and shallowly trying to regain his breath. Then he smelled the oil. The floor was covered in the same substance as the column. He raised his head and saw a man in a plaid suit with a ridiculously large bowtie and he was carrying a torch. Vance groaned as he realized his only escape from this was the pit and it was truly no escape.

"You did better than I would have given you credit for," Arcade praised. "Unfortunately that all ends here. I'm sorry but the games over."

Arcade started to laugh as he lowered the flame. It almost reached the floor when a disc came flying out of nowhere. It extinguished the flame and kept flying. It struck a wall and ricocheted hitting Arcade in the head. Vance smiled as he followed it and saw Captain America catch it. It wasn't until he saw Cap that he realized the disc was Cap's shield.

"Sorry I'm late," Cap smiled.

Vance nodded and lay back down and smiled.

Steve Rogers leaned back in his recliner and shifted his weight to make himself more comfortable. He was finally going to enjoy the remainder of his downtime. Then there was a knock at his door. He got up to answer it. He opened the door and found himself looking at himself in his Captain America uniform.

"Steve Rogers," the imposter started, "I'm Captain America, and you're under arrest for treason."
